Addicta Ball by Alligata is a twist on the classic Breakout formula. Instead of clearing blocks to win you guide a paddle through a shifting wall of bricks by bouncing a ball. Each level requires carving a path before bricks slowly descend toward the paddle. Miss a shot and the bricks inch closer raising the stakes as time runs out. The ball bounces off a degrading shield at the bottom but that protection won't last forever. The game adds power-ups and weapons to help manage the chaos while a thruster lets you glide across the screen. Released in 1987 it ran on Amiga Atari ST and Commodore systems. Players who enjoy tight mechanics and rising tension will appreciate the balance between strategy and reflexes. The wall of bricks slowly closing in creates a rhythm that's hard to look away from even as the challenge escalates.
