Astro Invader is a 1980s fixed-screen shooter where players control a laser base at the bottom of the screen. Aliens descend in neat columns after being deployed by a mothership, and when a column fills up the lowest alien drops straight down. These falling enemies explode on contact, forcing players to dodge blasts while shooting. Random UFOs also appear, requiring quick takedowns to avoid instant death. The game ends after three lost lives, demanding steady reflexes and positioning. Developed by UA Limited for the Arcadia 2001 in 1982, Astro Invader offered single and multiplayer modes during its era. Its grid-based alien movement and punishing suicide dives created a tense rhythm that early arcade players embraced. The simple yet unforgiving design made it a standout title in 1980s shoot 'em ups.
