About

Fail to Win Chapter 1 casts you as Everett, a character who respawns at checkpoints after dying but leaves the world unchanged. Each death litters the stage with ragdoll bodies you can manipulate to solve puzzles. You’ll stack corpses as platforms, trigger environmental hazards, and exploit physics glitches to progress. The single-player experience leans into absurdity with every retry adding new obstacles. Puzzles escalate from simple jumps to elaborate death-trap sequences requiring precise failure. The game’s dry humor shines through a Guide character who interrupts with meta commentary and sarcastic asides. Player forums note the 30-60 minute runtime feels brisk but leaves room for repeat attempts. With a 78% positive review rate on Steam, fans praise the inventive use of permadeath as a core mechanic. The first chapter’s open-ended story and cheeky tone suggest a series built on subverting expectations.

Storyline

You are greeted by a mysterious, faceless, and suspicious Guide who addresses the player directly. You are given control over an avatar named Everett who returns to the last-touched checkpoint after death. The Guide continues to lead you through a series of puzzles, often sometimes expressing frustration about the developers of the game. Each puzzle requires Everett to die. There's a lot more going on in the plot, but this is only the first chapter, so expect the story to develop itself further in the future.
