About Forsaken Realms: Vahrin's Call

Forsaken Realms: Vahrin's Call is a narrative-driven action RPG set in a crumbling city overrun by grotesque insectoid creatures called khraiax. Developed by Titan Roc and released December 31, 2026, it plays out on PC. You take on the role of a mercenary navigating Vahrin’s ruins, balancing combat, exploration, and dialogue choices to survive. The story centers on a desperate battle against both the khraiax and a mysterious underground threat. With a focus on fast-paced melee and magic combat, the game prioritizes player agency in shaping outcomes.

Gameplay

Combat in Vahrin's Call blends quick melee strikes with elemental magic, requiring precise timing to dodge khraiax swarms. Sessions often involve scavenging loot, solving environmental puzzles, and making morally ambiguous choices that shift factions. The single-player campaign features branching quests, but backtracking is frequent due to a non-linear world map. Controls are responsive, though some players find the difficulty curve punishing. Boss fights emphasize pattern recognition over raw power, and the stamina system limits prolonged magic use. Exploration is key, as hidden weapons and armor often outweigh standard drops.

What Players Think

PlayPile users rate Vahrin's Call 4.2/5, with 45% completing the base story. Average playtime is 22 hours, though 20% report over 35 due to side quests. Community moods are split: 55% describe the experience as "determined" and "hopeful," while 30% cite "frustrated" due to combat balance. Review snippets praise the "rich lore" and "emotional choices" but criticize "repetitive enemy design." Achievement completion sits at 82%, with 12 hidden trophies tied to exploration. Critic scores average 88/100, calling it "a bold but uneven entry in the indie RPG space."

PlayPile's Take

Vahrin's Call is best for players who enjoy deep storytelling and punishing combat challenges. At $49.99, it offers solid value but isn’t without flaws, melee-heavy gameplay can feel repetitive, and some quests lack polish. The 143 achievement points (with 50+ hidden) provide strong replayability. If you’re patient with rough edges and prioritize narrative depth over flawless mechanics, it’s worth the investment. Otherwise, wait for a sale.

Storyline

The city of Vahrin found itself overwhelmed by a swarm of the grotesque, insect-like creatures known as khraiax. In response, many of the Free Cities, united under the banner of the Combined Order, sent their armies to confront this terrible threat. But victory was not to be theirs, for while the khraiax stood little chance against the might of the combined forces, a far greater danger rose from beneath the city’s streets. Vahrin’s king lies dead, along with thousands of soldiers who marched to the city’s aid. Now only its most stalwart defenders remain, desperately fighting to reclaim their beloved home.
