About Lost Patient

Lost Patient is a surreal horror RPG from indie developer ghostopsy, published by ZNT Productions. Released on PC in 2026, it blends point-and-click exploration, visual novel dialogue, and turn-based combat with a mix of pixel art and low-poly 3D visuals. You play as Willow, a girl trapped in a nightmarish hospital for lost souls. Guided by Onyx, an angelic protector, she solves cryptic puzzles, battles phantoms, and uncovers fragments of her shattered memories. The game leans into existential dread and abstract storytelling, with a focus on environmental storytelling and moral choices. It’s a slow-burn experience for players who enjoy atmospheric narratives and disjointed, symbolic worldbuilding.

Gameplay

Lost Patient’s gameplay alternates between dialogue-heavy scenes and puzzle-driven exploration. You navigate the hospital by clicking on objects, people, and environment features to trigger actions or conversations. Puzzles often require manipulating inventory items in creative ways, like using a scalpel to dissect a ghost’s shadow or arranging scattered memories into coherent sequences. Combat is turn-based but abstract, pitting Willow against spectral enemies using items, dialogue choices, or environmental hazards. Each decision impacts relationships with Onyx and other characters, altering story outcomes. Sessions often involve balancing action, dialogue, and inventory management, with a runtime of around 10, 12 hours. The controls are straightforward, but the lack of tutorials can make early puzzles feel obtuse.

What Players Think

PlayPile’s community data shows 82% of players rate Lost Patient as “Recommend,” with a 7.8/10 average score. 68% of players complete the main story, and 41% finish all side content. Average playtime is 9 hours, with 15% of players logging over 15 hours due to optional memory puzzles. Community moods are split: 57% describe the experience as “eerie” and 43% as “contemplative.” Review snippets praise the “hauntingly beautiful art style” but criticize “sporadic pacing.” The game’s Steam forums are active, with players sharing puzzle solutions and modding guides. Achievement completion is 50% average, with the hardest goal being “Free Onyx” (12% completion), which requires exploiting a mechanics loophole.

PlayPile's Take

Lost Patient is a divisive but ambitious title. At $19.99, it offers decent value for its unique art style and thematic depth, though its inconsistent pacing and obtuse puzzles may frustrate some. The 50+ achievements add replayability, especially for completionists. Best for fans of abstract horror and narrative-driven RPGs like Oxenfree or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Skip if you prefer linear storytelling or instant clarity in puzzles. The game’s philosophical themes and eerie atmosphere justify the price for dedicated fans of experimental indie design.
