About Really Fast Rat

Really Fast Rat is a 2D indie platformer developed by White Ruby and released on PC in January 2026. You play a hyperactive rat on a cheese hunt after a cosmic event steals its snack. The game emphasizes speed, with levels designed for quick dashes, jumps, and hat-collecting. The art style leans whimsical, with exaggerated expressions and colorful environments. It’s short but packed with charm, aiming more for lighthearted fun than deep storytelling. If you like tight platforming and quirky characters, this one’s a quick, cheerful sprint.

Gameplay

Controls focus on rapid movement, dash, jump, and slide to navigate levels filled with floating platforms, traps, and enemies. Each stage has a set of hats to collect, often hidden in tight corners or behind timed obstacles. The rat’s speed is its main weapon, letting you zip past hazards or avoid enemy patrols. Sessions last 10, 15 minutes, with levels growing progressively chaotic. There’s no combat; the challenge comes from precision and timing. Replayability hinges on 100% completion, but the game leans more toward completionist satisfaction than difficulty.

What Players Think

PlayPile community ratings average 8.3/10, with 72% of players finishing all levels. Average playtime is 4.2 hours, and 68% finish with all 42 hats. Moods are split: 89% “happy,” 11% “frustrated” by hat placements. Critics praise the art style but note repetitive level design. One review: “Cute but treads the same ground for too long.” Achievements include 12 total, with “Hat Master” for collecting all 42. 75% of players unlock at least 10 achievements, and 45% hit 100% completion.

PlayPile's Take

At $14.99, Really Fast Rat is a low-risk buy for fans of breezy platformers. It’s not impressive but delivers consistent charm and tight controls. The hat-hunting loop is satisfying for completionists, though the short runtime and repetitive stages might leave some wanting more. With 12 achievements and a whimsical vibe, it’s best as a quick distraction rather than a long-term playthrough. Worth it if you enjoy cute characters and fast-paced 2D action.
