The Cleanup Crew casts you as a contract worker for a faceless corporation tasked with recovering parts from sites where people have died in freak accidents. Your job is to scavenge "vital components" from hazardous rooms while avoiding unstable anomalies that might turn hostile. The game mixes tense exploration with survival mechanics, letting you work solo or team up to share resources. Each run requires balancing risk and efficiency, using sparse tools to navigate shifting environments. Deaths are frequent and often absurd, but the Company won’t care, your contract is clear. The game’s dark humor and grindhouse aesthetic stand out, blending bureaucratic nonsense with sudden bursts of chaos. Procedural room layouts and anomaly behavior keep things unpredictable, though some players note repetition in late-game challenges. With a 72% critic score and a cultish 4.1/5 from user reviews, it’s finding fans among fans of absurd survival antics. Co-op modes add a layer of frantic teamwork, though communication is key if you want to avoid becoming another body in the hopper.
Welcome Cleaners to your brand new, totally non-dangerous, prospective career! As part of the Cleanup Crew for you are designated to go in after we have detected an entrant dying to an anomaly and retrieve vital components for us. These components will then be re-used on new entrants as part of the Program. For the most part, you should be safe as any anomaly that has killed an entrant will more than likely ignore you. In case of emergencies where an anomaly does attempt to attack you, there are designated safe rooms which are safe against most anomalies. These safe rooms can sometimes contain vital equipment to ensure you continue on through the Rooms, gathering these vital components for Company. In case of injuries, dismemberment, or death: the Company is not to be deemed liable as part of your contract you have officially signed when onboarding into the Company. In case of any one of the above occurring and vital components are lost in the Rooms, a new Cleanup Crew will be sent in to retrieve them.
