Nixxes Software has built a reputation for excellent PC ports. Their work on Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man Remastered, and God of War set expectations high. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives on PC March 19, 2026, and the feature set suggests this will be another strong conversion.

Here is everything you need to know before downloading 150 gigabytes onto your SSD.

Quick Reference: PC Specs at a Glance

The requirements scale from budget builds to 4K powerhouses. Nixxes has detailed the full specs across four presets:

Setting Resolution/FPS GPU CPU
Minimum 1080p @ 30fps GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT i3-10100 / Ryzen 3 3100
Medium 1080p @ 60fps RTX 3060 / RX 6600 i5-11400 / Ryzen 5 5600
High 1440p @ 60fps RTX 3070 / RX 6800 i7-11700 / Ryzen 7 5700X
Very High 4K @ 60fps RTX 4080 / RX 9070 XT i7-11700 / Ryzen 7 5700X

All tiers require 16GB RAM, Windows 10/11 (version 1909 or newer), and 150GB of SSD storage. That last requirement is not optional. Kojima Productions packed this game with high-resolution assets and the original Death Stranding proved that SSDs make a real difference for seamless traversal across its massive open world.

DLSS 4, FSR 4, and Every Upscaling Option

Nixxes included support for the latest upscaling technologies from all three vendors. NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2 are all present with both upscaling and frame generation options. This means players on RTX, Radeon, and Arc hardware all get access to performance-boosting features.

The interesting addition is Pico. This is Guerrilla Games' own "Progressive Image Compositor" built into the Decima engine. It is the same upscaling technology used for Death Stranding 2 on PS5, now available on PC for the first time. Pico works with any supported graphics card and can combine with frame generation from DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. For players who want the "authentic" console experience on PC, or who are running older hardware without vendor-specific upscaler support, this option fills the gap.

Dynamic Resolution Scaling is also included. You can pair it with any upscaler or use fixed resolution scaling at quality presets of your choice. Native anti-aliasing options are available for those with the hardware to push maximum fidelity without reconstruction artifacts.

Ultrawide Support Done Right

Every cutscene in Death Stranding 2 was composed for 21:9 aspect ratios. This is not the usual "pillarboxed letterbox" compromise where ultrawide monitors see black bars during cinematics. Kojima Productions designed the entire visual presentation around widescreen cinematography.

Gameplay extends even further. Players with 32:9 super-ultrawide monitors will see the full field of view with no black bars at all. The landscapes of Death Stranding 2's post-apocalyptic America were made for panoramic views. Climbing a ridge and seeing the full expanse of the world stretch across a curved ultrawide display will be something special.

For those without ultrawide hardware, the PC version includes an option to force 21:9 aspect ratio on standard 16:9 monitors if you want the wider perspective. You lose some vertical screen real estate but gain the cinematic framing Kojima intended.

PS5 owners also benefit here. A patch releasing alongside the PC version will add 21:9 ultrawide support to the console version.

Portable Preset for Steam Deck and Handhelds

Nixxes added a "Portable" graphics preset specifically for handheld gaming devices. This targets battery efficiency alongside playable performance on devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go.

Given that the original Death Stranding became a Steam Deck favorite for its slower pace and podcast-friendly gameplay, this is a smart addition. The traversal and delivery mechanics suit handheld play well. You can zone out on a long walk across Iceland, headphones in, taking in the scenery without the pressure of constant combat or split-second reactions.

The sequel builds on that foundation while adding more action sequences and companion characters. Having optimized settings for handhelds means Porters can take Sam's new journey anywhere.

For players coming to the series fresh, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach continues the story of Sam Porter Bridges in a world recovering from the Death Stranding event. The original game had Sam reconnecting America by delivering cargo across a fractured landscape filled with invisible threats called BTs and raiders. It was part walking simulator, part survival game, part Kojima philosophical treatise on connection and isolation.

The sequel picks up after those events. Sam is no longer alone. He travels with companions this time, including characters played by Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and the return of Norman Reedus as Sam. The gameplay still centers on traversal and delivery, but combat is more developed, vehicles are more varied, and the narrative promises answers to questions the first game left hanging.

The PS5 version launched in June 2025 to strong reviews. Critics praised the expanded gameplay systems and emotional storytelling while noting that it remains a slow, contemplative experience. If you bounced off the first game, the sequel will not convert you. If you loved the meditative pace and worldbuilding, this is more of what made the original special, refined and expanded.

PlayStation Cosmetics for PC Players

Pre-orders on Steam and Epic Games Store are now open. PC players who connect their PlayStation Network account will receive the Porter Suit: Link and Patch: Link as bonus items. Both are inspired by the PlayStation logo design and were previously exclusive to PS5 players.

PS5 players will also receive these items via the March 19 update, so nobody misses out regardless of platform.

Should You Wait or Preorder?

Nixxes has not missed yet. Their previous PlayStation-to-PC ports delivered excellent performance, comprehensive options, and stable launches. The first Death Stranding PC port was handled by Kojima Productions directly and had some issues at launch. This time, with Nixxes at the helm, expect a more polished release.

The 150GB storage requirement is substantial. If you are still running games off a hard drive, plan ahead. An SSD is not just recommended but practically required for a smooth experience. The game streams assets constantly as Sam walks through the world, and mechanical drives cannot keep up.

Clear some space, verify your specs against the chart above, and decide if you want to experience Sam's second journey with keyboard and mouse precision or the flexibility of ultrawide monitors and frame generation tech. March 19 is not far off.
