About

10 Count Boxer is a minimalist arcade game where you tap the screen to help Johnny, a perpetually losing boxer, stand up before the 10-second count ends after each punch. The mechanics are simple but tense, you race against the clock to raise his limbs, dodging a flurry of blows from opponents who never miss. With no complex combos or strategies, it’s all about reflexes and timing as Johnny takes increasingly ridiculous amounts of punishment. The game’s charm comes from its absurd dedication to the concept. Johnny’s 0-99 record and unshakable resolve create a darkly comedic underdog story, amplified by a referee actively sabotaging his chances. Released in 2009, it became a cult hit on iOS for its brutal difficulty and quirky presentation. Players either love the relentless challenge or find themselves frustrated by its simplicity, but few forget the image of a boxer who refuses to stay down, no matter how many times he gets knocked out.

Storyline

With a 0-99 record, Johnny the gusty boxer refuses to lose. But even he has one unbeatable "weapon". And that's getting up off the floor. When he's hit, he'll get up. Hit again, he'll get up again. Even after suffering 100 heavy blows, by some miracle he manages to get to his feet. Johnny may be a loser, but he won't stay down for nobody! Enduring a frenzy of pummels day in and day out, Johnny dreams of the day he wins his first bout. What sort of hope does tomorrow hold? For some reason, Tom the ref doesn't want Johnny to taste victory and does whatever he can to keep it from happening.
