10Six Online is a real-time strategy MMO where players join one of four mega-corporations vying for control of a resource-rich rogue planet. You build bases, capture mining sites, and deploy units to defend or attack. The game mixes traditional RTS mechanics with first/third-person combat modes that lean into action gameplay. Missions focus on resource management and territorial control but shift to player-versus-player battles as the central conflict. The game’s design allowed for massive-scale battles, though its servers remained underpopulated. Launched in 2000, 10Six aimed for a million concurrent players but closed in 2002 due to low demand. Sega had planned a Dreamcast port, which was canceled after delays. A fan-driven relaunch by Conundrum Studios rebranded it as Project Visitor in 2003, keeping the core systems alive. The game’s ambitious tech and hybrid gameplay stood out, but its short official lifespan left it as a footnote in MMO history.
