25 To Life drops you into a gritty cityscape where you pick a side, cop or criminal, and battle in open environments packed with chaos. As a police officer, you rely on training and air support to tackle gang threats. On the street side, you swap between a broader arsenal and use civilians as shields. The single-player campaign follows a rising figure tangled in both worlds, with writing by P. Frank Williams. Split-screen and online multiplayer let you team up or clash in modes like team deathmatch. Customization options let you dress your character in branded gear and tattoos. The game leans hard into its 2000s roots with a rap soundtrack featuring Mos Def and DMX. While the open areas feel more chaotic than polished, the dual perspectives and multiplayer focus set it apart. It didn’t age well visually but holds up as a fast-paced, style-over-substance shooter. The ability to play against others online or locally keeps it replayable, even if the story takes a backseat to action.
