3D Dragon Castle casts you as a dragon tasked with storming enemy fortresses. Navigate treacherous castle layouts filled with lava traps and swinging hazards while battling rival dragons. To win fights position yourself above opponents and knock them out of the arena, sides or below mean certain death. Defeated enemies drop coins for extra points and roaming dinosaurs can be roasted with fire breath. Each level’s layout shifts as you unlock new paths by collecting hidden keys. The simple vertical combat mechanic stands out forcing strategic positioning over brute force. Levels mix platforming and combat with tight controls for the era. Retro charm appeals to fans of classic arcade action. Released in 1999 for Windows and Mac it’s a brief but punchy experience. Early 2000s design simplicity lets the dragon vs dragon clashes take center stage without modern frills.
Gameplay is a mixture of platforming and 3D action, similar to Joust, only without giant ostriches. You have to bump enemy dragons from above to defeat them (attacking them from the sides or below will only kill you). Once they're beaten, they release a coin which will grant you bonus points. The floors are also plagued with dinosaurs, which you can destroy with your dragon's fire breath. Once you've done in all the enemies, you advance to the next level. Some levels also have closed paths which can only be opened by finding keys laying around nearby.
