3D Galax turns the classic arcade shooter formula into a first-person 3D challenge. Piloting a spacecraft, you blast through waves of polygonal aliens that close in from all angles. The twist is the enemies never fire, your main threat is dodging collisions as they swarm your ship. Surviving each wave is a race against time: if invaders slip past unharmed, they’ll keep returning until you’re crushed by their persistence. Every fourth wave brings a chaotic bonus level where asteroids replace aliens, testing your reflexes in a different kind of onslaught. The game’s flat-shaded 3D visuals were bold for 1987, giving it a raw but futuristic edge on Amiga and Atari ST. Its lack of enemy fire shifts focus to maneuvering and timing, a sharp contrast to its 2D predecessors. While later shooters refined the formula, 3D Galax remains a niche curio for fans of aggressive geometry and old-school intensity.
