3D-Pac Plus

3D-Pac Plus is a 3D maze runner that puts a twist on the classic formula. You steer a yellow circle through a grid of dots gobbling them up while dodging colored foes. The Atari 8-bit hardware keeps things simple but the added depth of the third dimension adds new angles to the chase. Each level is a puzzle of shortcuts and dead ends you must clear to move ahead. It’s a direct follow-up to the original formula released just a few years prior. The lack of power-ups or changing moods makes it feel streamlined but the ghost behavior and maze layouts keep each run feeling fresh. With 100 levels packed in it’s a test of reflexes and memory that older fans of the genre might appreciate. For an early 3D attempt on an 8-bit system it’s surprisingly cohesive.
