About

70's Robot Anime Geppy-X is a side-scrolling shooter that spoofs 1970s mecha tropes with cartoonish energy. You control a giant robot built by a secret lab to fend off an alien invasion led by a space demon named Bin Day. The game mixes rapid-fire shooting with goofy stage scenarios and dialogue that mimics old tokusatsu TV shows. Each level features over-the-top battles and cutscenes where characters speak in exaggerated, script-driven lines. The single-player campaign leans hard into the parody, with a young pilot leading a squadron in a war that’s equal parts action and absurdity. The game stands out for its relentless camp and retro aesthetic. Its dialogue-heavy scenes and exaggerated character interactions lean into the kitsch of 70s anime without irony. Though buried in PlayStation’s library, it became a cult curiosity for its commitment to parody, think giant robots trading zany one-liners between firefights. Released in 1999, it remains a niche pick for fans of hyper-stylized shooters that prioritize humor over polish.
