8 is a challenging point-and-click RPG that blends puzzle solving with turn-based strategy. You play as a woman thrust into a bleak afterlife scenario after a devastating personal betrayal. Her soul is claimed by a melancholic personification of death who offers a twisted bargain: revive her life by hunting down a dragon. Progress depends on navigating dialogue choices, solving environmental puzzles, and battling foes in grid-based combat. Each decision ripples into future outcomes. The game stands out for its stark, emotionally charged narrative and how it weaves moral dilemmas into mechanics. Its 3-hour runtime feels dense with consequence despite a disjointed tone mixing domestic tragedy and fantasy myth. Player choice impacts relationships and endings, though some branching paths reset unexpectedly. The mix of click-to-interact exploration and tactical battles creates a distinct rhythm, though the art style and voice acting divide opinions.
One day, on a Sunday morning, a married mother decides to take her children to church. The husband said he was tired and decided to stay. The mother, when she arrived at the church, realized that she had forgotten the bible at home, and went back to get it. Arriving home she finds her husband cheating on her with her friend. She can’t resist the pain and dies of a heart attack. Then her soul goes to the crossing. And when she was about to reach the spiritual world, someone pulls her away. It was the death. A beautiful girl. She tells a story of her past. According to her, hundreds of years ago, she lived happily with a dragon. He was her best companion and friend. But one day, she got sick and died. Since then she is alone, and misses her beloved dragon. She then proposes to revive the mother with one condition. She asks her to kill the dragon so that the dragon can live with her between the spiritual world and the world of the living. The mother, full of sadness that she lost her life and the company of her children, accepts without blinking. So now they have a deal, and a GREAT adventure ahead.
