About

A Harvesting Moon is a text-based adventure game where players navigate a spooky manor by typing commands. Released in 1985 for the ZX Spectrum, it uses a verb/noun parser to interpret player actions. The game follows a child separated from their parents, who must solve paranormal puzzles to escape before the grounds close at 5pm. While originally text-only, later versions added basic graphics. The game’s parser requires precise wording, making puzzle-solving a test of both logic and phrasing. The eerie setting and time limit create tension, though the lack of save features adds challenge. Built with Gilsoft’s Quill engine, it reflects early adventure game design. Fans of retro text adventures may appreciate its atmospheric puzzles, though modern players might find the interface dated.
