About

Abductor is a 1982 arcade shooter for the Commodore VIC-20 where you pilot a ship at the bottom of the screen, fending off waves of aliens that swarm in formation. Your main goal is to prevent six humans below your craft from being dragged upward by enemy carriers. If any reach the top, they become skulls that plummet toward you, forcing quick dodges. Shooting aliens and skulls slows the threat but doesn’t stop it entirely. You start with three lives but a single hit erases them one at a time. Let all six humans get taken and the game ends immediately. The added pressure of falling skulls creates a tense balance between offense and defense. With sharp vector graphics for its era and a punishing difficulty curve, it tests reflexes and multitasking. While short on variety by modern standards, its straightforward design and escalating pace kept players hooked in 1982. Now a relic of 8-bit gaming, it’s a raw look at early 80s action game design.
