Abyss Unchained is a 3D platformer with Metroidvania elements built around a core traversal mechanic. You swing a weighted chain to navigate a large mansion full of vertical spaces and hidden paths. Each room feels like a puzzle where timing and momentum matter. Combat is minimal but integrated into exploration, requiring you to use the environment as much as your weapon. The world is dense with secrets but never overwhelming, letting you backtrack freely. What shines is the fluidity of movement. The chain feels responsive and creative for climbing, pulling, and vaulting. Dotnut Studio’s design keeps the mansion’s layout fresh even as it grows more complex. While the story stays in the background, the atmosphere of decayed grandeur adds texture. Early builds on the indie scene have shown promise, though the final polish remains to be seen.
