Aerobat is a fast paced arcade shooter where you manage speed as both your fuel and your weapon. You control a ship that must choose between powering engines or guns at any given moment. To take down enemies effectively, you boost hard to build up momentum before cutting the engines and firing while falling through space. The longer you spend boosting without shooting, the more damage you deal when you finally let loose. This loop of gathering speed then releasing it creates a frantic rhythm that defines every encounter. The entire project stems from one person named Thew who handled all art, design, and coding on his own. He started this as a prototype for a 48 hour game jam back in 2013 and kept working on it because the core idea was so solid. It plays like a standard shooter but with that specific twist of managing velocity to deal damage instead of just pressing buttons. Players who like tight mechanics without complex systems will find this straight forward approach satisfying. The single player mode offers a clean experience where your only real focus is mastering the timing between boosting and shooting.
