You pilot military jets in fast paced aerial combat on the go. After Burner Black Falcon lets you tweak 19 licensed planes with custom setups before tearing through waves of enemies. The PSP touch screen handles targeting and weapon switches while the main display shows chaotic dogfights with plenty of explosions. Up to four players can team up or battle over ad hoc connections in modes like team deathmatch and capture the flag. The game adds a story mode to the series for the first time ever. A solo campaign gives context to your dogfighting while retaining the raw speed of classic After Burner. Players appreciate the tight controls and how quickly matches start locally. The PSP port keeps load times short between missions. Some note the campaign’s script feels lightweight but the flight mechanics more than make up for it.
