Age of Empires: Castle Siege tasks you with building and defending a medieval fortress while launching attacks against rivals. Select a civilization like the Britons or Teutons and manage resources to strengthen walls, upgrade your keep, and train troops. The gameplay blends base-building with real-time combat as you defend against waves of enemies or siege other players’ settlements. Battles play out in top-down strategy views where positioning units and timing upgrades matter. The game launched as a free-to-play mobile and PC title with optional microtransactions for speed boosts and enhancements. Available on iOS and Android years after its 2014 PC debut, it let players engage in cross-platform multiplayer matches. However Microsoft shut it down in 2019 leaving it inaccessible today. While not as expansive as other entries in the series Castle Siege offered a streamlined tower defense twist on the Age of Empires formula with asynchronous combat and mobile-friendly controls.
