Agnostiko Origins is a 2D action platformer set in a steampunk version of 1890s Manila. You play as the "man in the red scarf," navigating a large mansion filled with traps, puzzles, and creatures drawn from Philippine folklore. Combat and exploration follow Metroidvania rhythms, with backtracking to unlock new areas and upgrades. The game leans heavily into verticality and environmental storytelling, letting players piece together the mansion’s dark history through scattered clues and eerie encounters. The game’s pixel art stands out, mimicking the blocky charm of 1990s 16-bit consoles. Creatures like the shape-shifting Aswang and tree-dwelling Kapre feel distinct, blending local myths with steampunk twists. Singles Alliance designed the title to highlight Filipino cultural elements without overexplaining, letting the world’s oddities speak for themselves. Launching in June 2024, it’s available on Xbox and Switch. Early access builds on indie forums suggest a dedicated fanbase, though post-launch polish may depend on community feedback.
