You’re flying a chopper through war zones blowing up everything that moves. Airstrike II: Gulf Thunder casts you as a helicopter pilot tasked with surviving wave after wave of ground targets while racking up points. Each mission forces you to balance risk and reward, dodging enemy fire long enough to unleash your missiles or you’ll crash hard. As you advance you unlock new helicopters each with distinct strengths and weaknesses. Some zip faster but take less punishment while others plow through damage but lack agility. The game’s 2005 release date shows but the simple arcade-style action still holds up for quick bursts of chaotic fun. The co-op mode lets you team up with a friend to share the firepower though most players stick to solo runs to maximize their high scores. With 12 missions and a focus on raw destruction it’s a no-frills shooter that leans into its over-the-top violence without pretense.
