Alex Kidd in Pico World is a pixelated platformer that shrinks the classic Sega Master System adventure to fit the tiny screen of the Pico-8 Fantasy Console. You play as Alex, navigating side-scrolling levels filled with enemies, traps, and puzzles. The controls stick to simple jumps and punches, letting you focus on timing and platforming. Each level is a tight challenge of speed and precision, with just enough retro charm to make you feel like you’re playing a lost cartridge from the 80s. The game’s biggest draw is how much it packs into a 64x64 pixel canvas. Developer Domarius Games managed to recreate core elements from the original Miracle World while working inside Pico-8’s 8192 token limit. Fans of old-school platformers often praise the tight level design and punchy soundtrack. With no modern frills, it’s a straight-up test of skill that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly direct. The simplicity is its strength, no fancy menus, just pick up and play.
After Miracle, Techno, and Shinobi, Alex has found yet another world to adventure in, and it wasn't easy! Cramming yourself into a world which only exists inside an 8192 token limit is no mean feat! But that's no problem for Alex's mean fist!
