Alianator is a Defender-style shooter with a first-person twist. You control a lone defender tasked with protecting eight civilians from alien abduction. The action unfolds in a grid-based level where you navigate freely though your speed automatically adjusts when near invisible edges. Different alien ships hunt you or snatch inhabitants who then transform into stronger enemies if not rescued. The screen displays radar enemy types and your dwindling energy shields. What sets Alianator apart is its mix of resource management and fast-paced action. You track multiple threats while balancing rescue missions and survival. Each death or lost inhabitant brings you closer to game over. Released in 1991 for the Amiga it leans into retro arcade challenges with minimal story. The mechanic of enemies evolving from rescued civilians adds tension making every second count.
