Alien Syndrome is a space-themed action RPG with fast melee combat and co-op play. You and a friend team up to blast through hordes of bugs using guns, swords, and giant mechs. The campaign has you scavenging alien worlds for upgrades while fighting bosses in claustrophobic corridors. Character progression focuses on swapping weapons and armor sets between runs. The game stands out for its split-screen mode which feels responsive on both Wii and PSP. While not as polished as later entries in the genre it inspired, it has a cult following for its chaotic dogfights and portable play. Original 2005 version had simpler graphics but this 2007 update added better animations and online leaderboards. Most players finish the story in 15-20 hours with a friend.
