Alkali is a precision platformer that turns chemistry into gameplay. You manipulate the protagonist’s physical traits to navigate levels, add mass by collecting metal shards, bounce off water surfaces for explosive lift-offs, or dodge hazards with slivers of your body remaining. The challenge lies in balancing speed and control while exploiting each level’s environmental quirks. Traditional jumping and timing mechanics mix with reactive physics to create tight, unpredictable moments. The game’s standout feature is its level editor, which gives players full access to the tools used to build the official campaign. No prior experience is needed to design traps, puzzles, or obstacle courses. Released in 2022 by Sleipner Games, it runs on PC and focuses entirely on single-player creativity. The editor has already seen user-made levels pushing the game’s physics beyond the developers’ original ideas.
