Alpine Racer is a 3D skiing game where you navigate downhill slopes and slalom gates using physical controls. You stand on foot pedals and grip handles to tilt and balance as you race. The game offers two modes Race and Time Attack across three tracks. Movement feels responsive though the visuals lean heavily on Namco’s early 90s arcade style. The real standout is the hardware. The foot stands and handheld bars create a surprisingly engaging physical connection to the action. While the course design is simple by modern standards players appreciate the tactile feedback. Released in late 1994 it’s a relic of a time when arcade tech prioritized motion over polygons. Short sessions work best but the novelty of leaning into turns keeps things fresh for casual runs.
