Amber Country follows Steven O'Hara, a blind detective who relies on visions called "The Dreams" to crack cases. Players alternate between point-and-click exploration and first-person narrative sequences to figure out mysteries in the eerie Amber County. The story centers on the suicide of a young woman and the strange occurrences that pull O'Hara into a deeper web of secrets. Puzzles and environmental clues drive the investigation as the game’s fractured sense of time blurs past and present. Set in a town where clocks run backward and memories linger, the game leans into its uncanny atmosphere to build tension. Developer Francesco Cucchiella crafts a self-contained mystery with nonlinear storytelling, letting players piece together events through shifting perspectives. Released in late 2018, it draws comparisons to classic adventure games while adding its own twist with surreal visuals and a focus on psychological unease. The lack of modern multiplayer or high-budget polish won’t appeal to everyone but might intrigue fans of slow-burn narratives.
