About

An Eternity Gone By casts you as Mirai, a sorceress chasing monsters through a shifting world. Armed with telekinesis, you'll fling everyday objects like watermelons and lamp posts at grotesque foes while navigating platforming challenges and brawling through hordes. The twist lies in time, each failed rescue attempt ages Mirai, altering her abilities and the environments she traverses. Combat grows more dynamic as she progresses, blending quick reflexes with strategic use of her evolving powers. The game’s standout is its lifecycle mechanic, where every retry reshapes both character and setting. With a 4.3/5 average from early access players, its charm lies in the evolving difficulty and nostalgic pixel art. While not the deepest of its genre, it nails the loop of persistence and progression, offering 15-20 hours of escalating challenges. The mix of slapstick combat and bittersweet narrative about time’s passage gives it legs beyond typical beat ’em ups.

Storyline

It is said that every thirty years monsters descend upon Starblast Village. Everyone knows not to leave home during this event - everyone except for Mirai Starblazer. That night, Mirai convinces her best friend Kako to sneak out and watch the stars. However, during their outing the two are ambushed by monsters and Kako is abducted and taken away to a mysterious world. Mirai ventures after her, not yet realizing just how long this journey will take… It will take more than one attempt for Mirai to save Kako. Mirai might not have enough time on the first attempt. And with every failed attempt, time will pass and Mirai and the worlds she visits will change. Follow Mirai through the different phases of her life. With age comes new perspectives as well as new abilities on the battlefield!

Okay, so I played An Eternity Gone By last week and it’s got this weird charm that’s hard to pin down. The telekinesis combat is pretty fun—slinging watermelons and toilets at monsters feels weirdly satisfying, like a more polished version of the physics puzzles in Okami. The fra...
