Andre Agassi Tennis puts you on the court with the real-life player’s name and a cast of generic opponents. You’ll use timing and positioning to execute smashes, volleys, and backhand shots, avoiding whiffs or faceplants. Each of the eight characters has stats for speed and shot power, but only Agassi’s likeness is officially licensed. Play solo in career mode, exhibition matches, or practice, or face off locally with split-screen multiplayer. The 16-bit versions add a money-earning "Skins" mode where longer rallies boost your payout. The game’s career mode builds a globe-trotting tournament grind, ending in a showdown against Agassi himself. Courts vary by surface but offer little visual distinction. While the mechanics demand precision, the lack of depth in character design and court details might feel dated. Still, it’s a solid pick for retro sports fans looking for a challenge. Genesis and SNES versions see the most praise, with some players noting the game’s surprising difficulty despite its 90s simplicity.
The player can play in either career mode, exhibition mode, or practice mode where the player can learn to hit and receive tennis balls in a proper manner in order to assure victory on the tennis court. During the career mode, the player travels to tennis courts around the world and compete in tournaments where victory allows to play to win money. After mastering all the tournaments, the player actually plays against Mr. Andre Agassi in a final grudge match in order to determine who is the best tennis player in the world. All the other players are generic except for him.
