Animal Land Satsujin Jiken casts you as a police dog on a tropical island where a jeweler fox has been killed. You navigate crime scenes and interrogate suspects using a menu of actions like search examine and question. Clues hidden in dialogue and objects must be pieced together to solve the case. The nonlinear structure lets you revisit areas and characters but missteps mean respawning from saved points. The game leans into its animal-themed cast with quirky dialogue and absurd motives. While technical limitations of the MSX platform show in basic visuals it remains a tight puzzle box for mystery fans. Released just before Enix’s 90s rise its legacy is niche but it holds up as a brisk 2-3 hour detective romp.
