Anomaly Hunter puts you in the shoes of a detective trying to fix broken timelines. You explore different eras where machines malfunctioned and history went sideways. The gameplay relies on clicking to spot hidden objects that reveal clues about time travelers, alien mutants, or even communist dictators. Each level asks you to find specific items while navigating through worlds influenced by sci-fi movies and anime. You control the flow of events by solving puzzles and fixing anomalies before civilizations get destroyed. The game captures the feeling of searching for Easter eggs in shows like Doctor Who or Akira. It feels like an interactive Wally book where every detail matters for the story. Players have rated it highly for its clever writing and nostalgic references to classic films. The mix of point-and-click mechanics with strategy elements creates a tight loop that keeps you engaged without feeling repetitive. You will find yourself scanning every pixel to uncover the guest of honor in this time-travel mystery.
The idea for the game originated when I watched science fiction movies, TV shows, and old anime. Cameron`s The Terminator and Aliens, Scott`s Blade Runner, Doctor Who and Rick and Morty, Akira and Ghost in the Shell: all these creations generously rewarded attentive viewers for finding hidden details and Easter eggs. All these details could often turn the understanding of the creations and give a lot of food for thought. Several years ago I decided to transfer those emotions and spirit of exploration into a game with time-traveling mechanics and Sci-Fi setting, but format like old books about Wally. The first roster of the team was assembled in early 2020, and we released a demo in June.
