Another Time Another Leaf: Kagami no Naka no Tantei splits control between two versions of the same girl. Quiet Kaede handles interviews and crime scene analysis in the present while her mischievous mirror twin Ageha time travels to gather secrets from the past. Each character has distinct abilities Kaede notices subtle clues others miss while Ageha sneaks into locked rooms and overhears hidden conversations. The story unfolds through branching choices that change how school staff react and which mysteries get prioritized. This Nintendo DS title stands out for its dual-perspective puzzle solving. Players toggle between Kaede's methodical detective work and Ageha's chaotic time jumps to piece together events. The touch screen lets you draw arrows and leave notes for yourself during investigations. While the 2009 release shows its age in presentation some puzzle mechanics remain cleverly designed. The 12-year-old mystery at a girls school wraps up in about 15 hours with minimal repetition.

Storyline

Kaede is entrusted with a little box when her mother died. Opening it, she found a mirror within it, which housed her doppleganger Akeha. While Kaede is quiet and serious, Akeha is completely different, how you control these two characters during your investigations is vital to your solving the case. When strange things start happening at school, Kaede and Akeha are spurred into action, while Akeha can go back to the past to gather information, Kaede, with her serious attitude and eye for detail, visit crime scenes and talk to related people to collect clues.
