Apathy: Narugami Gakuen Nana Fushigi is a visual novel with branching narrative paths centered on a high school student named Shuichi. Tasked with compiling stories about his school’s seven enigmas, he gathers six people in the newspaper clubroom. But the seventh figure never appears. As Shuichi listens to their accounts, the stories twist into unsettling revelations. Each chapter unfolds like a puzzle, with player decisions influencing how the mysteries connect and the truth emerges. The tone grows darker as the line between reality and fabrication blurs. The game stands out for its tight pacing and psychological twists. Players spend 10-15 hours navigating interconnected stories filled with hidden motives and eerie symbolism. The school setting is rendered in stylized art, with subtle details hinting at deeper lore. While the plot stays grounded in mystery, the characters’ conflicting perspectives create a gripping sense of paranoia. Available on PC and Switch since 2022, it’s a concise but memorable experience with multiple endings. The lack of lengthy exposition makes it easy to jump into, but the layered writing rewards close attention.
