Arboria is a rogue-lite RPG where you play a Yotun warrior fighting to save your tribe from extinction. You descend into the shifting underground world of Durnar, battling enemies with Symbiotic Weapons that evolve as you mutate for stronger attacks. Each death resets your progress but leaves behind resources that boost future runs. The game loops through runs where you collect veri, used to祭 offering to gods and upgrade stats, that carry over to the next character, letting you build long-term advantages across generations. The Symbiotic Weapons system stands out, forcing you to balance offense and survival as mutations reshape your playstyle. The permadeath structure adds weight to every decision, while the generational progression creates a slow-burn strategy layer. Though the dark fantasy setting and twitchy combat may not appeal to everyone, the game’s Metacritic score of 72 reflects a solid but niche experience. The ever-changing Durnar map keeps replayability high, even as the steep learning curve might test patience.

Storyline

Become the Chosen One who will save the Yotunz Tribe from extinction. Leave the safety of your Refuge to venture through The Hole into the vast and ever-changing land of Durnar. The underground world is full of dangers, mysteries and the only way leads down… Heal The Father Tree and restore the power of your tribe. If you fail in combat, your character dies permanently and you have to start the next run from the beginning. The veri you collect serves two purposes - it’s an offering for the Godz and your key to growth. Warriors do not live long, but their successors will pick the fruits of their efforts, affecting the next generation’s stats and abilities.
