Arkanoid Returns is a 1997 sequel in the brick-breaking arcade series. You guide a paddle to destroy colored bricks, collecting power-ups that alter your ship's abilities. The game spans 50 levels grouped into distinct environments that shift every nine stages. It supports single-player runs and split-screen multiplayer, letting two players work together. A PlayStation port later added refined visuals and extra modes. This title never left Japan but remains a cult hit for its faithful return to the series' roots. The PlayStation version, retitled Arkanoid R 2000, improved the original without overhauling it. Fans praise its tight controls and co-op play, though the limited level count and lack of global release keep it niche. Retro arcades and collectors still seek out its distinct charm.

Storyline

The enemy known as 'DOH' still did not get the message and after many years of silence decides to attack once again. The 'Vaus' space vessel better be ready to face new, yet familiar challenges, in order to stop 'DOH' for the last time.
