Armalyte is a fast-paced horizontally scrolling shooter that tasks you with grinding through eight stages to take down end-level bosses. Each level throws waves of enemy ships at you in rigid formations while hazards lurk in the environment. Midpoint mini bosses block progression until beaten. You can upgrade your firepower between stages to survive tougher waves. Up to two players can team up locally or go head to head in separate modes. The game stands out for its tight co-operative play on 8-bit hardware and the rhythm of its combat loops. Players juggle moving platforms and explosive scenery while managing ammo and timing shots.
