Armored Core: Formula Front shifts the series into strategy mode. Instead of piloting mechs in real time you build tweak and test custom mechs then let their AI handle combat. The core loop revolves around balancing weapons armor and behavior trees to outsmart opponents. Training arenas let you stress test designs while progression unlocks new parts and scenarios. The PS2 and PSP versions share save data over USB letting you move creations between systems. What sets it apart is the focus on AI training which requires more than just gear juggling. Players must anticipate enemy tactics and adapt accordingly making each match feel like a chess game with giant robots. Though overlooked at release it’s gained a cult following for its deep customization and cross-platform flexibility. Niche but rewarding for builders who love systems over spectacle.
