Armored Warriors is a fast-paced beat 'em up set in a futuristic warzone. You control members of the Bloody Armor unit, a squad of armored soldiers fighting through hordes of cyborgs on the planet Raia. Combat revolves around close-quarters brawling with melee attacks, weapons, and team coordination. The single-player campaign follows a straightforward mission to rescue civilians and take down the rogue cyborg leader Azrael. Co-op mode lets two players team up to share the chaos, with each character having distinct moves but similar playstyles. The game’s straightforward approach prioritizes action over complex mechanics. The 1994 arcade original has aged better than many of its era thanks to its punchy combat and co-op focus. Modern ports on Switch, PS4, and PC let new players tackle the 15-stage campaign without wrestling with dusty arcade cabinets. While not as technically advanced as later Capcom fighters, Armored Warriors holds a 4.5/5 average on retro gaming sites for its responsive controls and relentless action. The story is all explosions and war cries, but the real draw is crashing through waves of enemies with a friend.
In the year 2281, the United Earth Government and the Principalities of Raia signed a ceasefire treaty, ending a war that lasted for half a century. One year after the signing of the treaty, the United Earth Government's 18th scouting party reported that the Raian capital, Melkide, has been captured by an army of unknown origin. The United Earth Government decided to dispatch an army to Raia to retake the capital and rescue its citizens. However, unbeknownst to the general public, the true purpose of this operation was to eliminate the unknown enemy and bring Raia under Earth's control.
