Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. throws you into a war against alien insects that have overrun Earth. Pick from two armored soldiers each with distinct weapon loadouts and blast through swarms of bugs in single player or team up locally for co-op. The split-screen mode lets two players share a screen while fighting side by side. Levels mix open combat and tighter corridors as you hunt down nests and destroy alien tech. Gunplay is straightforward but responsive with options to switch between basic firearms and over-the-top explosives. The game's biggest draw is its co-op mode which works surprisingly well for a late 90s title. Split-screen matches two friends on one console while online multiplayer connects players across platforms. Though the 1999 release date means the visuals feel dated by modern standards the chaotic bug battles still deliver. With 14 maps and multiple game modes it offers decent replay value. While not a genre classic the combination of local co-op and bug-slaying action gives it a niche charm that still holds up for retro shooter fans.
