Army Men Sarge Heroes is a third person shooter where you play as Sarge leading a mission to recover captured soldiers from the Tan. The action switches between real world settings and a toylike plastic universe filled with oversized weapons like rockets and robot toys. You navigate 14 levels using a mix of firepower and gadgets while fighting enemy forces across varied environments. The game supports split screen multiplayer letting two players battle in either co op or competitive modes with custom character colors and weapon choices. A standout feature is the Plastosheen lighting tech that gives plastic soldiers a glossy realistic sheen. The portal system lets players warp through blue portals to reappear elsewhere in levels adding strategic depth to both single player and multiplayer. Released in 1999 it ran on PC N64 PlayStation and Dreamcast with a focus on fast paced action. The series maintained a cult following for its over the top toy warfare aesthetic and accessible controls.
