Asylum by Digital Psychosis is a 1993 platform game for the Acorn Archimedes that mixes shooting and running. You play a patient in a mental hospital dodging enemies firing weapons while moving between levels. The game focuses on quick reflexes and precise jumps with side-scrolling action and simple controls. Levels are filled with hazards and foes requiring timing and strategy to survive. The game is remembered for its fast-paced gameplay and early use of dynamic action in a platformer. With a 20 year head start on most rivals it's a curious example of early 90s design. While not as polished as later titles it shows ambition for its time. Fans of retro platformers might find it worth a look for the nostalgia factor.
