At a Distance is a co-op puzzle game built for two players on separate computers. Each person controls their own screen linked to a shared puzzle layout. One side handles object placement while the other manipulates movement paths. Neither player can see the other’s view forcing reliance on verbal cues and split-second timing. Puzzles escalate from simple spatial challenges to complex coordination tests requiring synchronized action. The game’s clever use of physical separation creates a tight focus on communication. Players must describe limited visual info and trust their partner’s input. Despite its brief runtime Terry Cavanagh’s design highlights how constraints can sharpen co-op dynamics. The puzzle mechanics earned recognition in indie circles for pushing local multiplayer into new problem-solving territory.
