Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana is a turn-based RPG where you play as Klein, a young alchemist traveling with his wooden Mana companion Popo. Your journey begins after Klein is saved by monster hunter Lita and dragged into her quest to protect their world. Battles unfold in tactical grid-based combat with alchemy as a core mechanic, you gather ingredients from the environment to craft potions and tools that shape your strategy. Exploration and item creation are central, as you navigate forests, cities, and a mysterious floating metropolis while figuring out a tale of duty, friendship, and ancient forces. The game stands out for its deep alchemy system, which turns scavenged materials into powerful concoctions. It also balances action with character-driven storytelling, giving Klein and Lita distinct personalities and motivations. Released in 2004, it holds an 8.5/10 on Metacritic and 90% on GameRankings, praised for its creative gameplay and cohesive worldbuilding. While the dated visuals are obvious, the blend of alchemy and narrative remains engaging for RPG fans who enjoy resource management and character progression over pure spectacle.
