Attack of the Saucerman casts you as Ed, a lowly worker for an alien empire tasked with cleaning up Earth’s ecological mess. The planet’s overrun by hostile aliens and rogue Ned creatures, and it’s up to you to dismantle illegal Ned farms, fight through waves of enemies, and capture the Neds to reset the ecosystem. The game blends on-foot shooting with vehicle sections, letting you switch between gunning down foes and piloting ships to outmaneuver bosses. Simple controls and straightforward level design focus on action over complexity, with a goofy sci-fi narrative holding it all together. The game’s oddball charm and over-the-top alien designs stand out, alongside its surprisingly polished feel for a late ’90s release. While not a critical darling at launch, it’s gained a niche following for its frenetic gameplay and absurd premise. Fans of quirky shooters might find it worth a look, though its dated visuals and linear structure won’t wow modern players.
