Bad Badtz-Maru Robo Battle is a turn-based strategy game with a focus on robot customization and tactical combat. Players assemble mechanical fighters using three part types, normal, sengoku bushou, and animal, then battle in a tournament-style bracket against AI opponents. Each match plays like a grid-based board game where positioning and dice rolls influence outcomes. Winning rewards experience points and new components to tweak your robot’s abilities. The game emphasizes progression through experimentation with part combinations. The real draw is the sheer number of build options, over 800,000 possible configurations let you tailor everything from movement speed to special attacks. While the 2001 Game Boy Color release dates it visually, the blend of risk-reward dice mechanics and deep customization still feels fresh for niche strategy fans. Its single-player structure and focus on iterative improvement make it a quiet standout in handheld RPG hybrids.
Bad Badtz-Maru takes part in an event in Gorgeous Town called Gorgeous-Hai Robo Battle Tournament. In this event, Bad Badtz-Maru must compete with friends Ijuuin Pandaba and Good Hanamaru in order to strengthen robotic equipment in events known as "Robo Battles". The player can gain experience to strengthen the robots. Different types of parts include "normal", "sengoku bushou" and "animal". There are over 800,000 possible combinations of parts.
