Bagman is a platformer set in a mine where you guide a character through underground shafts. Your goal is to grab money bags and dump them into a wheelbarrow at the surface. Navigating the levels means dodging guards, ore carts, and elevators that move unpredictably. You can knock out guards with a pickaxe or drop bags on them from above to buy time. The levels split into three connected screens, letting you switch between underground tunnels and the surface area to avoid threats and progress. What makes Bagman stick out is its tight level design and the clever use of three-screen layouts, which were uncommon in 1982 arcade games. The pickaxe mechanic adds a punchy way to handle enemies, and the urgency of racing against collapsing elevators keeps each run tense. Though short on graphics by today’s standards, its simple physics and responsive controls have earned it a cult spot among retro arcade enthusiasts.
