Balloon Kid is a nimble platformer where you steer Alice through skyward hazards to rescue her brother. Using two balloons for lift, you bounce over creatures in the air while avoiding worse threats below. The gameplay hinges on balancing height and speed as you collect floating orbs for points. Each level pushes you to refine timing and route choices. Play solo or challenge another player locally using a link cable. The simple mechanics hide tricky challenges that demand quick reflexes. Launched in 1990 for Game Boy, it predates handheld gaming's mainstream era but earned a niche following for its quirky physics and brisk levels. The two-button control scheme feels surprisingly responsive by early portable standards. While not a household name, it remains a brisk, charming relic of Nintendo's experimental R&D1 era. Its cult appeal lies in the tight, replayable stages that test your ability to stay aloft under pressure.
Alice and Jim were making a balloon rainbow and in the process, Jim, Alice's younger brother, was carried off by some Balloons. Alice now must fly using two balloons and follow the trail of balloons that Jim leaves behind. You start off in Alice's home town of Pencilvania.
